The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for Information Technology (IT) strategy, operations and associated initiatives to develop and support the company's Strategic Plan.

The main responsibilities of the IT Manager CIO include:

  • Influencing, collaborating with the C-suite levels and other areas of the company interested in creating a vision of how and what IT transformation will create.

  • Build digital discipline across the business, not just IT.

  • Relentlessly delivers on operational efficiencies.

  • It focuses on internal commitment to the customer.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CIO CIO

Vision and Strategy

  • Advocate and demonstrate the value of IT as an enabler of strategy formulation and as a support for technological innovation.

  • Translate, advocate and support the business strategy to achieve the specific results of the organization.

  • Guide and advise stakeholders on disruptive technologies and trends (Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Management and Government).

  • Lead the capabilities analysis of the future state of the business and the current IT environment to detect critical gaps and recommend solutions to improve and drive the business forward.

 

Change and Innovation Management

  • Determine the relationship between people, processes, information, technology in relation to driving innovation and creating an operating environment that is simpler, better, effective and efficient.

  • Lead the vision, implementation and evolution of enterprise-wide solutions and associated processes and standards.

  • Develop diagnostics and actionable deliverables that help the business guide IT investment decisions in support of business strategy execution.

  • Ensuring that solutions are developed with a strong focus on security, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Collaborate with the organization to develop and present business capability models and roadmaps to facilitate discussion and decision-making with stakeholders across the enterprise.

 

IT infrastructure, controls and operations

  • Lead and develop a team of IT professionals to enhance working knowledge of technology used within the organization and assist in the effective adoption and use of technology within the end user community.

  • Develop and optimize the service and support provided by the IT team throughout the company

  • Ensure development execution is closely aligned with IT industry standards and best practices.

  • Oversee documentation of all architecture design and development execution.

  • Consult with infrastructure, project, and product teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when the enterprise architecture needs to be modified

  • Ensure that annual certifications as part of effective IT controls are carried out and reviewed as part of ongoing controls and governance.

Risk management, compliance and IT audit

  • Build a culture of cyber awareness and maintain operational vigilance to reduce cyber risk.

  • Ensuring IT solutions and operational processes are aligned with risk and compliance related requirements and regulations.

  • Improve and further develop effective controls and measures in line with regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Enhance and improve the culture of information security and cybersecurity throughout the company

  • Ensuring that deficiencies identified as part of audits are corrected in a timely manner.

  • Carry out rigorous compliance with internal IT controls.

 

Third Party Relationship Management

  • Collaborate effectively and drive managed service provider performance. Ensure that performance and response are timely to the needs of the company.

  • Ensure that IT third party relationships and vendor performance management are aligned with business needs and overall policy.

  • Consult with IT third-party relationships to address service level deficiencies and negotiate terms as needed.

  • Find suppliers that have a value proposition aligned with our short, medium and long-term objectives.

  • Review vendor proposals and engage with other stakeholders to ensure that the proposals meet the needs of the organization.

  • Ensure that the governance and oversight of third-party vendor management is sustainably aligned with industry standards and best practices.

  • Project Management – PMI

  • Experience in implementation of strategic and technological projects.

  • Experience in implementation of transversal business projects such as SAP.

  • Management of Budget, Government and IT Operational Model.

  • Knowledge of ISO, AT320, COBIT, SOX, GDPR, ITlL.

  • Trends in digital technologies and Industry 4.0

  • Management and/or understanding IT/OT.
