"Experience, skills, and responsibility at each level are key factors in determining IT specialist compensation. According to IT Hunters' 13th Salary Guide—which analyzes data from 105,000 resumes received during the year and 3,000 interviews with professionals—the age range of technology experts is shifting toward the 31-40 group, driven by the need for greater technical specialization.
"The most in-demand specialists are in cybersecurity," explains Benjamin Toselli, Executive Chairman of IT Hunters. "Regardless of the cybersecurity framework law already in effect, it's essential given the risks any company faces: demand for specialists has grown, and so have compensation packages," he adds.

"All related positions are earning more than last year, as shown in the table accompanying this article (displaying salaries for the most sought-after areas). It highlights the mode—the most frequently occurring salary for each role by experience level. "Other highly sought-after specialists work with data—a field also tied to a new regulation (NR: personal data law) set to take effect at the end of 2026. And then there's artificial intelligence: 'No matter how many AI projects you have, if you don't have quality data, they won't deliver value,' highlights the executive.
"In Chile, cybersecurity is no longer just a technological advantage—it's a critical function for business continuity," says Camilo Garrido, researcher at the Center for Cybersecurity Research (CICS) at Universidad Mayor. "Behind every monitoring dashboard are analysts, engineers, and security leaders carrying the pressure to detect threats in time—often before the rest of the organization even realizes there's a problem," comments the academic, who also teaches information security.
"Salaries in this area reflect the urgency of finding qualified personnel. 'It's no coincidence these figures are skyrocketing,' he notes. 'The combination of new regulations, increasingly complex incidents, and a genuine shortage of specialists has created a true war for talent. Today, companies aren't just competing on who pays more—they're competing on who offers better projects, career growth opportunities, and spaces where these professionals can do what they do best: protect the digital heart of the business,' he emphasizes.
